People keep saying birds evolved from the dinosaurs. That's only partially true. Some birds did, in fact, descend from theropods. But, the fact of the matter is that the closest living relative of a chicken is an Imperator draconis, not a Tyrannosaurus rex. Imperator draconis was the most widespread variety of dragon in the old world and as such they were hunted and eventually domesticated, specifically by a Southeast Asian monk whose name was lost to history. While many chickens do not possess the natural properties of the original Imperator draconis, they still possess a propensity for strangeness that is indicative of their draconic heritage i.e. basilisks, cockatrice, spicy chicken wings etc.
