Another important member of the lesser undead are skeletons. Skeletons fall under the scope of lesser undead as they lack any individual power to go beyond their station and have difficulty procuring sustenance without assistance. Despite this, there is actual contention as to whether or not a skeleton falls under the scope of construct or undead. This is due to the fact that much like a golem, they are a set of of inanimate parts put together (i.e. bones) and animated via the will of its creator and sustained through regular doses of magic or some other form of animating energy. I would have sided with this position in the debate if it weren’t that skeletons can also occur naturally. As such a skeleton would be a type of revenant, animated similar to its cousin the zombie with a memory of life. However, as opposed to the zombie, a skeleton is not fueled by the memory of the functions of life, but rather, its will. As such, zombies tend to have much more character than zombies in spite of lacking the flesh to emote as well.
Proper etiquette then, regarding these boney folk, is not to feed them with flesh as you would a zombie. There is no body that needs to be filled. Instead, fill their souls: Take them out to see a movie, play gold etc. Keep them busy.
One particular activity that skeletons enjoy is music. Long has been my career in the necromantic studies and ne’er had I once seen a skeleton who didn’t like music. Avoid xylophones however. That is a hate crime.
