In Lieu of Dreams
By Rook, September 27, 2022
In lieu of dreams
He once kept a jar of old butterflies
For the sake of an empty night
He would cast them to the dull skies
And set their wings alight
Oh how the fluttering flames would rise
He laughed at their fleeting flight
Their glimmers remained singed upon his eyes
Humming how the stars were bright
